What inspired you to become a personal trainer?

I only ever wanted to play A.F.L and when that didn’t turn out the way I wanted it was the next best thing.

I’m super fortunate that I knew what I wanted to do when I finished school – I feel its pretty rough for people to have to make a decision at such a young age but 14 years later I’m still stoked with the decision I made.

You’ve been in the health an fitness industry for over 14 years and helped a number of famous people achieve their fitness goals, what is the key to your success and what makes you unique?

I think a hell of a lot of trial and error mate to be honest. If I had my time again I probably wouldn’t have taken the route I have (haha!) it would have been much easier to go and work along side someone and learn the ropes off them.

Its the one thing I encourage all new trainers to do. When it comes to uniqueness its a case of picking up bits and pieces from other mentors along the way and implementing it into what I do.

You want to create your own craft which for me I’m not aligned to anyone in particular, I take the pros and cons from a number of people.

In your opinion, what is the key to living a healthy lifestyle?

Balance and evolving in all areas of life.

We have the ability to dominate in all areas of life, but society tells us we cant. It takes management and constantly evolving. It doesn’t happen over night but if you are conscious enough to have it on your mind it can totally happen.

We also need to clear the ‘interferences’ that are stopping us from having more success.

Do you have any favourite quotes or mantras?

My favourite quotes/mantras change a bit and are probably reflective of where I’m at in my life.

The one that is really floating my boat at the moment is:

“There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own Soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious” ~Carl Jung

How important is a persons mentality and state of mind when trying to achieve a fitness goal?

So important. Its heavily underrated and I feel like understanding human behaviour and the mindset will get more attention over the next 3 to 5 years… But its not that ‘sexy’ so it probably doesnt get the airtime it needs.

People are still very ‘surface level’ when it comes to understanding their health and results so ‘short cut to 6 pack’ type articles and headings still get traction – it’ll change. At least I’m hoping it will.

What mental health benefits do you see from people adopting a healthier life? Do you have any advice for people suffering from anxiety or depression?

Confidence. Happiness. Energy. Focus. The list goes on and on.

Anxiety and depression are two really interesting ones. Its not something you would expect me to say but medicine MIGHT be a way to treat these to help them get out of the ‘hole’ that they feel they are in while integrating healthier results long term.

Its definitely not something I encourage but it depends how deep they are! Otherwise there are a ton of methods. I’ve worked with a number of people on the anxiety front through my NLP etc. Its really a case of starting to clear the emotional load and get back to their truest self.

You’ll be amazed what happens when you implement that strategy.

You also do work with corporates, what effect does peoples health and lifestyle have on their performance at work?

It’s massive. Being a trainer for the past 15 years the feedback has been incredible from clients who train in the morning before going to work. I don’t really buy into the story that people aren’t ‘morning people’ you can retrain yourself – so I reckon its a great 4 week experiment worth trying.

Tell us about the ‘Living the Life Project’?

Its my performance and lifestyle coaching program for those that want a little more from life. The majority of us aren’t as fulfilled as we could (and should be). So many people know there is more but they aren’t sure what it is or how to get it.

I work with them to break through the ‘stuff’ that is holding them back from having more. More love, more fulfilled, more wins, more life.

What advice do you have for people looking to make a positive change to their life and become healthier?

Think about your environment. One of my favourite thoughts is you become the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Your tribe will affect your vibe. So make sure its super clean and well thought out.

In your opinion, what is the key to living a healthy lifestyle?

Health.
Happiness.
Fulfillment.
If you have those 3 things I reckon you’re on the right track 🙂

What other services do you offer?

I’ve got 3 core things I do :
6W2S (my 6 week health and fitness transformation program that is avail in Sydney and Adelaide)
LTL (for those looking to break through and go to the next level in their life)
Spiral and NLP (My private one on one coaching for those looking to clear trauma, stress the past that is holding them back from a brighter future)
