It’s Friday and time for the most feared workout of the week, leg day!
For anyone who takes their workouts seriously then leg day is an essential and important day to build strong foundations. There is simply no excuse for chicken legs, not if you’re serious about your fitness and looking to build big legs.
I admit that years ago I was guilty of neglecting legs, it’s easier to workout the upper body and you often put off doing things that are painful and difficult. We have learned to love leg day, it’s brutal yet incredibly rewarding especially after noticing your gains and filling out a pair of jeans.
So let’s go….
- Squats x 5 sets – this includes building the weight up gradually, pushing out a max rep followed by a drop set on a light weight, high reps!
- Leg press x 4 sets
- Quad extensions x 4 sets
- Hamstring curls x 4 sets
THE FINISHER: sandbag squats then superset weighted lunges x 3 sets, repeat with body weight squats and lunges. This never fails to hurt and is a real test. I did this workout tonight and my legs felt like they were going to explode….expecting some serious DOMS!
The workout is intense and works all the major muscles in the legs, including glutes, hamstrings, quads and calves…..once you start building legs you’ll learn to love leg day too! Well almost!
