The Success Cycle And Staying Motivated

“For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger

Motivation.  It’s the driving force behind everything we do in life.  Whether you want to do something or not, dislike it or love it, it’s because something is driving you, you have a reason.

Like most things, hitting the gym and getting fit has its challenges.

We have days and go through stages where we question what we’re doing, why are we putting ourselves through this?  Why not settle for the easy life?

This is what can happen when we get into a rut.  We start taking our progress and our success for granted.

Living a good life means feeling your best and being able to perform at your best.  It’s a lifestyle.  When you work out and keep yourself in good shape, it has a knock on effect on all areas of your life.

Your standards are higher.  When you raise your game in part of your life, it’s hard not to have the same attitude and standards of excellence in other areas.  You take pride in your appearance, how you carry yourself, how you interact with others, you have more positive experiences and feel good about yourself.

It’s called the success cycle.

You have a goal – you take action – you get results – you feel good – you take more action.

Hitting the gym, working out, running, or however you train, whether you feel like it or not it creates mental toughness.  It builds a high level of resilience into your life, helping you cope better with the stresses and challenges life throws at us.

“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger

Whether you’re having a tough time at work, in your relationships, or your finances, acquiring mental toughness will make you stronger, more positive and will help you through it.

So next time you’re low on motivation, remember the success cycle that you could be breaking.  Prevent a downward spiral, keep your standards high, take regular action, and go workout!
